The Lucky Seven Meme

Angeline tagged me in the 'Lucky Seven Meme'.

Here are the rules:

1. Go to page 77 of your current MS
2. Go to line 7
3. Copy the next 7 lines and post them as they're written. No cheating!
4. Tag 7 authors and let them know

So this is from the one that I am doing some serious editing on at the moment, and as its most in my mind at the minute I decided to post from it - although since selecting this I have made loads of changes which means this isn't page 77 any more. But still.

Page 77, from line 7:

‘Your friends seemed nice.’

‘They were convinced there was something going on between us.’

‘Well they were right weren’t they?’

‘I guess so.’ I hesitated. ‘I didn’t tell them though. I like having you to myself. Although, if I’m not careful Rachel will be onto you, before I can blink.’

‘We better be careful then hadn’t we? I wouldn’t want to lose you now.’

He was looking right at me all the time that he said this, and I felt my heart beating faster.

(Draft three, 'The Summer My Mum Died')

Now I'm meant to tag seven other writers:

1. Kate
2. Patricia
3. Ella
4. Chandra
5. Gina
6. Akoss
7. Sher

(I tried to make it people who hadn't been tagged already, but apologies if you have been)

Challenge Number Two.

Once again I have been shoddily organised. I apologise. Yet again I seemed to run out of time regarding this challenge, this week seemed somehow to be as busy as the last, so I'm afraid I stuck to the most basic requirements, and using prompts one and two, wrote a 200 word piece, without doing any of the extras. I found it difficult enough without all the extra things. Hope it's okay. Better than nothing I suppose....

Under the Bridge

The bridge was rusty, the paint peeling off the underside. Joseph sat with his back to it, watching the girl nervously. She had tears streaming down her face and she was trying frantically to brush them away. Water was dripping onto her shoulders, not from her face, but her hair which was spread out over her shoulders as it dried.

Above them they could hear the thump, thump, as a ball was kicked against the edge of the bridge, and a parent’s shrill voice calling a child back.

‘Your leg.’ She whispered eventually.

He followed her gaze to the blood seeping out of a wound on his leg.

‘It’s nothing.’

‘But Joe,’

‘Really, Rose.’

She looked down again, not wanting to meet his eye.

The boy leaned back against the support, waiting. The water rushed by, and he watched, wondering, idly, what if it were to go wrong, if it were to do something that they didn’t expect, just once. Where would they be then?

He looked back at the girl who was now rootling through her bag.

‘There you go,’ she said as she pushed into his hands a white handkerchief. ‘That should do the trick.’

‘But,’

‘Use it.’

‘Right.'

Blog Awards

Firstly thank you very much to Akoss,

and secondly to Rod ,

So I have to do seven random facts about myself.

1. When at home I live on a farm.
2. I'm really fussy about notebooks and the lines have to be just right.
3. I have a strange phobia of the bottom of boats and ship wrecks.
4. I'm been a huge Mcfly fan since I was fourteen and have seen them a ridiculous amount of times.
5. My favourite author is Daphne du Maurier,
6. I'm writing my dissertation on her at the moment
7. Despite my hatred of the bottom of boats and fish, I love swimming.

PHEW!

And now give the awards to some other bloggers;

Stephanie
Ella
Jess
Jolene

I wasn't sure how many people I had to give it to, so I just did a few... I'll leave it at that for now, just to get this posted... finally! Apologies if you have already had these! Now to the challenge...
